direction. so there will be spoit showers throughout the day today. 7:00 a.m., spotty showers in the forecast. 76 degrees. by noon, still that rain chance, 81. this afternoon, we'll start to see things wind down mostly into the evening. temperatures aren't getting too hot. about the mid to low 80s. bigger changes for tomorrow and for the rest of the week. we'll take a look at that coming up. jack taylor with a look at the roads. jack? >> sheena, thanks. good morning. a live look in maryland on 270 headed southbound. again, not too bad. a little bit of a sheen on the roadway. rain had rolled through. the rubber meeting the road. in decent shape there. eastbound on 70 just outside of mt. airy. the tractor-trailer over the guardrail, got a fuel spill. right lane is blocked. two to the left will get you by. just a minor delay. >> 66 eastbound. >> some activity after sudley on the left shoulder. ba

we've been staying on top of this breaking news too. a police chase that ended east along 19th street. >> news 4's justin finch joins us live with more on the arrest made and what happened. >> angie, good morning. rather eun, good morning. we can tell you that police have turned their attention outside of the truck involved in this investigation. police investigators out at the crime scene gathering clues and working as two young women are now in police custody. take a look here. sources on scene are telling us at least one is a juvenile. in a surprising twist, these two women were found here after the chase came to an end. we are hearing now from park police. they are two of three people taken into custody at this time. no word on that third person, what the

park police telling us after 3:00 a.m., there was some kind of traffic stop involving that pickup truck and the people who were inside. that pursuit began and ended here on the 2200 block of 19th street southeast. there was a struggle of some kind. the fehr pursuing that truck did fire their weapon. we're hearing no one was struck. this all coming to a close here not far from fair lawn avenue where we saw the two young women taken away in cuffs. you are looking now live at the scene here. you can see we have investigators setting the devices to continue their investigation, which includes mapping this crime scene out here. as you can see, this has largely become a park police investigation. we're hearing reports that at least one person injured. unclear at this time which of the three people that could be or if it was the officer involved. we're working on that for you. we'll have it coming up in the next newscast. back to you.

right now, dramatic protests in the wake of the violence in charlottesville, virginia. it's not clear whether anyone will face charges. but what happened at this rally in durham, north carolina. you saw there the protesters pulled down a confederate statue last night. some started kicking and hitting it. you can hear people cheering as well. in new york city this huge crowd gathered outside of trump tower overnight. president trump is staying in new york right now. thousands of people chanted shame as you can hear there when the president's motorcade drove by. there was a smaller group of supporters. a lot of shouting, no violence though ziefrnts hundreds marched in d.c. last night to voice their frustration with -- >> we have the impact this is having in the

adam, good morning. >> reporter: eun, good morning. all quiet at lafayette square this morning. it was was a different situation last night and yesterday. protesters began a protest march here and it went a couple of blocks and ended at trump hotel on pennsylvania avenue. >> this was a peaceful protests. that was the second straight day of protests. people were carrying mega phones and holding -- heather heyer is the person killed in charlotteville. on facebook, yesterday, a lot of clem students put this together. they were encouraging people people who feel discriminated against to come out and speak. we're seeing more and more of this type of action all around the country, really, as you were just showing and then here in washington, d.c. groups continue to assemble and march in response to what they believe was a lack of a response from the white house after the

made a statement yesterday. some say that it was too little, too late. more protests happened here today. adam, thank you. we're finding out more about the person who sped out in the crowd. we got 911 cause. they revealed six years ago, james fields jr. told police he threatened her with a knife. the year before that, he was accused of hitting her and locking her in a bathroom. the records are from the florence police department in kentucky where they live. yesterday a judge denied him bond. it's 6:06. people around the country are still processing what happened in charlottesville. >> now we're learning about some old incidents in our area that happened in the last few days. angie goff joins us from the newsroom with that. >> it's an extremely sat sad story. multiple people say they were

action since saturday. let start with something that happened at a public school. d.c. police had to escort a man from the aquatic center. the lifeguard was black. police say the man had tattoos of swastikas and the numbers 666. that happened on sunday. that same afternoon, in rockville, maryland, a man was physically a saus salted. the victim was speaking arabic. the suspected attacker made an anti-muslim comment. police are calling the incident hate bade. finally, take a look at this. someone set this woman's gay pride flag on fire. she lived in northeast d.c. and the woman told news 4, whoever it was, ripped the flag down. she placed it one story higher. now, along with that sign you see there, some disturbing stories to report. police say they're concerned approximate this. ba

>> we're talking about rain. before you leave without the umbrella, the biggest area of rain is not here yet. but ahead of it is spotty light showers around. even sprinkles. here's a look at radar. pretty quiet right now. around quantico, down 95 is where we have a few light showers. let's zoom out. you see it in charlotte, richmond, la ray. as we go over the next few hours, the rain will move in and we'll see more scattered showers around. by 7:00 a.m., we'll be fairly spotty spotty few and far between. still spotty but by 9:00 a.m., we could see widespread scattered showers. we'll be watching this closely as you head out the door. we do, however, have breaking news in traffic. let's head over to jack taylor. >> sheena, good morning. breaking news from i-95 in the main lanes. unfortunately, the crash -- everything except one left lane. good news is if you're looking

vehicles could be cleared quickly. little bit of debris. 70 eastbound. leaving carroll county. outside of mt. airy, the overturned tractor-trailer, you'll find we have a crash along the right side of the roadway. two lanes get you by. expect residual delays because of a train malfunction out of ft. to then. several people in custody after a chase in d.c. >> this breaking news from southeast. justin, what's going on? >> reporter: good morning. another wave of police on skeep. just as we got here, two suspects were put into patrol cars, both of them surprisingly young women. now take a look here. their faces are blurred because sources tell us at least one is a juvenile. a third person was captured here on scene, too. this all came to

two hours or so ago as police were here after a pickup truck was called in connection to a robbery. after 3:00 a.m., a park police officer saw the pickup truck in the area of the 3400 block of minnesota avenue. they pursued that vehicle here in the area of 19th and p streets east. eventually they caught all three people involved. at some point the officer involved did discharge their weapon. in that discharging, no one was hurt. we can tell you on scene, the investigation continues. mapping out what now is a crime scene. trying to figure out again how all of this has happened out here overnight. again, three people are now in custody in relation to this. this began as a robbery call, ended as a police pursuit. we're live in southeast. i'm justin finch. news 4. >> justin, thank you. we are getting good news about the people who were hurt in that deadly car crash in

the wheel will be back in court next week. tom costello breaks down what's happening in charlottesville. good morning from charlottesville. an update for you. many of the people who were injured and were at the university of virginia hospital have now been released. including 20-year-old natalie romero who was an rotc student. she suffered a skull fracture. an update on the suspect. 20-year-old alex fields who appeared in court yesterday, as you know, charged with second degree murder. he does not have bond. he did not enter a plea and told the judge he didn't have money for an attorney making $600 every two weeks or so as a security guard. the security company has since fired him. the judge has appointed a public defender in his case. his next appointment or appearance before the court will be at the end of august. the concern now is whether these white nationalists groups might percolate up elsewhere in the country and try t

more violence. we asked the police chief here whether anybody was the sole ins gator. he said this was an alt right rally and they did not live up to their agreement with the police on where they would enter the park and it quickly deteriorated. it's been a busy few days here. we're hoping for a calm few days going forward. i'm tom costello in charlottesville. back to you. >> 6:34. these are some of our top stories this morning. several ceos have backed out of the president's american manufacturing council. maryland native and under armour ceo announced his departure on twitter. kenneth frazier and intel ceo brian also backed out as well. the president didn't explicitly condemn white nationalists after that rally in charlottesville turned vie lengths. fairfax county police are trying to find the man who

assault a woman in reston. he grabbed the woman and dragged her into the woods near the tall oaks shopping center on north shore drive. if you use metro to get to work, this could impact your commute. a new 35 mile an hour speed restriction is in place to reduce the risk of smoke, fire and outages. it's on the tracks between medical center aunion station o the red line. metro says most people boent notice the change. police are working to find the person who sexually assaulted a 5-year-old girl in the alexandria section of fairfax county. the girl was abducted on tower drive near a park around 5:00 sunday night. a relative first noticed the girl was missing when the girl rejoined her family she told them what happened. detectives are working to create a sketch of the suspect and are offering a reward in this case. we have an update to a story we told you

we are hearing the stories of the frightening moments after a car slammed into a crowd this past weekend in charlottesville. >> it was a high point of violence between white nationalists and counterprotesters on saturday. in this video, you can see the ambulances and the people bandaged and holding each other. >> one man from ohio talked to our affiliate there. he's now using a cane because he was injured in the crash. >> i was laying there. and a girl said, hold your head. you're bleeding all over the place. you got to hold your head. bill burke has stitches and staples in his head. 20 people were injured hi

across the country in response to the violence in charlottesville. >> many made their voices clear outside the white house last night. that's where we find adam tuss with the message they wanted president trump to hear. adam? >> reporter: good morning, aaron. yeah. some of them said that the message that president trump delivered yesterday was a little bit too little too late. that's why they got here and assembled. look at the video of the protests. it started at the white house at lafayette square. went a couple of blocks down in the trump hotel and that's where it ended. all of this here in washington was peaceful in terms of protests. people carrying mega phones and holding up signs for heather heyer. she died in charlottesville. this was the second straight day of protests. we can continue to see the protests happen as the week goes on. this whole protest yesterday was assembled by a facebook groupment they were asking

northeast. an officer fired a weapon but no one was hit. three people hit were apprehended and identified as the suspects in the robbery. >> a d.c. firefighter is accused of showing up drunk to help a hurt child. we're told he was then attacked. mark segraves shows part frt cell phone video. it started after he walked out of the child's home and ends before the attack. >> you want me to influence by doing your job -- >> you can hear neighbors yelling at the fireman on sunday asking him whether he's drunk. right now he's in the hospital with a broken jaw. the firefighter tells us that he is already the focus of an internal investigation. it's not clear where the firefighter's partner was during all of this. the child was treated and is okay. want to play a game? that's my game, tony. >> that's one of a frederick county, maryland's

75 degrees in the district. cloudy skies. there you see it. we have low clouds out there. some visibility not great. we're not looking at any dense fog. around the beltway, you can see the green showing us. maybe an isolated light shower around. even as you go farther south, along coast, seeing a few and near fredericksburg. but the rain is in charlottesville, la ray moving into fauquier county getting closer. that's one area of rain moving in soon here and even off to the west and southwest. there you see it streaming in this direction. you're exercising, 7:00 a.m., still be on the spotty side with the showers hit or miss. by lunchtime, today, we could be seeing more scattered shower activity. by 5:00 p.m., a chance of a shower. you'll be out there exercising. not too hot. temperatures in the mid to low 80s. 3:00 p.m., future weather, showing a shower chance. things are winding down. but then we
